Frequently asked questions

We know choosing memorial jewellery is a deeply personal decision, and you may have some questions along the way. Below, we’ve answered some of the most common queries to help guide you through the process – but if there’s anything else you’d like to ask, we’re always here to help.

How much ashes/hair/fur do you need?

A very small amount. The vial that we send out is around 3cm x 1cm and filling this even half way with ashes/hair/fur will do 5-10 items or more depending on what has been ordered.

When you receive your kit the vial will be open. Our vials are specially designed to enable you to quickly and cleanly fill by gripping the lid and using this to scoop the ashes into the vial or add other inclusions. No spoons needed.

Any remaining ashes, hair or fur will be sent back to you once your order is complete. No inclusions are ever disposed of under any circumstances.

Don't worry about having too little, few strands of hair/fur will be enough to do one to three items. One strand of hair or fur or even a whisker can also be used if that is all you have. A sprinkle of ashes is also more than enough for one item.

What happens once I have placed my order?

Mainland UK orders We will send you out a collections kit which you then return to us. Return post is free, using our pre-paid tracked returns envelope. Just take this to the post office where they will scan and send back to us. You can then track your parcel straight to our door. Full instructions are provided with the kit.

Outside Mainland UK A virtual kit is sent to you via email. This includes information and instructions on how to send your loved ones ashes back to us. This also includes a form to sign, however if you do not have access to a printer please don't worry. Please ensure you include your order number and name inside your envelope. This ensures when the ashes reach us, we know who's order the ashes belong to. Please send your loved ones ashes to us tracked/signed for to ensure their safety.

Print Orders: If you have ordered an item that requires a printing kit (fingerprint, paw print or hand print) this is also sent to you inside your pack or by itself if you have chosen an item that doesn't require ashes or hair. You can whatsapp, email or send us the print once taken - no return post is necessary if you are not sending ashes or hair to us.

How do you keep me updated about my order?

We send you an e-mail out once you have placed your order, this will have your order details and number on. We then send you another e-mail once your kit has been dispatched and then another when we receive your loved ones ashes/hair/prints. This will also have your estimated completion date on. Occasionally our e-mails like to hide in people's junk folders so always check in there for our e-mails.

Do you keep any ashes/hair/fur on file?

We don't. All loved ones inclusions will be returned with the completed jewellery.

How long do orders take?

Most orders take 2 weeks to make from the date we get your loved ones ashes, hair or fur. Rings that require a ring size (none adjustable rings) take up to 4 weeks and gold items take 3 - 4 weeks. Some of our lockets can be made and sent in 7 days or less. If you need your order for a specific date please ask us, we will accommodate a faster turnaround if we can.

Can I drop off/collect my Ashes in person?

Here at Forever Together we have a reception area that you can hand deliver your pack. Post COVID19 our customer area has not re-opened. The receptionist will take the ashes from you and put it in our postal tray (the reception is always locked). You can also hand post the ashes pack to us if the office is closed (the office building is open 9-5 Mon-Fri)

We can also arrange for you completed order to be collected instead of posted.

If you would like to deliver the ashes directly to us and not the reception staff please contact us to arrange a time prior to coming. We have more than one location where we work from and we aren't always at the office location. We wouldn't want you to have a wasted trip so we always recommend contacting us beforehand.

How will my order be sent and what is the wait?

Upon receipt of your order (Mon-Fri) we will send you out your Ashes pack with a pre paid tracked returns envelope provided. Packs usually take 2-3 working days to reach you (UK Mainland orders)

ALL completed UK orders are sent Signed Special Delivery, they will arrive the day after before 1pm guaranteed.

International orders are subject to current international shipping times and change depending on your country.
We dispatch our orders 5 days a week, mon-fri.

How do I take care of my Jewellery?

We recommend taking your Jewellery off to shower, bathe or swim. The best way to take care of your Jewellery is to keep out of contact with water.

If you are set on never taking your jewellery off then we recommend our Secret Ashes Range can be worn in water unlike our polymer set jewellery. For safety - we always recommend removing jewellery (especially necklaces) to sleep in.

Cleaning your jewellery is important. We clean ours once every 1-2 weeks. All Sterling Silver will tarnish (usually more-so when not being worn) this is called oxidation. There are lots of products on the market that help keep your Sterling silver Jewellery looking shiny and new. Many things can cause tarnishing but the main culprits are perfume, skin creams, hairspray, chlorine, acidic skin and even Salty air. The amount of tarnishing (oxidation) that occurs is dependant on skin and care habits of the wearer. Tarnishing is therefor not a manufacturing fault.

Do you deliver internationally?

We do and this can be added at checkout. Please check your counties import and export rules regarding ashes before placing your order. We cannot pre-pay any customs charges for your order. These will be payable once your delivery reaches your destination. We cannot send ashes collections kits outside of mainland UK. A virtual kit will be sent to you with instructions on how to send your loved ones ashes to us.

What is your Jewellery made of?

Depending on what you pick our jewellery can be made from 925 Sterling Silver, 9-24 Carat Gold or Platinum.

Gold can be made as White, Yellow and Rose Gold.

The only thing not made out of 925 Sterling Silver, Gold or Platinum are the Floating Glass Lockets, these are made out of hypoallergenic 316l surgical grade stainless steel and glass. The Rose Gold Steel Lockets are plated in 18 carat gold. The plated method used is called ION plating. This is the same plating used in designer watch making ensuring a piece of jewellery that will stand the test of time. They will not rust or tarnish.

Some of our cufflinks and keyrings also come in a 316l Stainless steel; superior in it's strength and scratch resistance, needed for these items.

Can my Ashes be removed once my item is made?

Once your loved ones ashes are set into the polymer or metal they cannot be removed.

How Do You Ensure Ashes/Hair/Fur Are Never Mixed Up?

Once your order is placed you have your own file created. From the day we receive your loved ones ashes they are kept in their clear sealed bag with your paperwork. Everything is clearly labelled with your order number, name, name of deceased and item(s) ordered.

We only ever make one order at a time. Only one lot of ashes/hair/fur are ever out at the same time. We are a small office with only two of us here.

Each time your order is handled all details are checked and checked again before re-filing.

The ashes are kept in our locked office at all times (and a locked reception at delivery and awaiting dispatch)

We have three separate areas of the office for orders we are awaiting ashes for, orders being made and orders done and awaiting dispatch. We have been using the same filing and order processing system since 2017 so you can rest assured your order is safe and will never be crossed with another.

Can I have engraving?

90% of our products can be engraved. If it offers engraving on the item we can of course do so for you. If not, the item wont be suitable for engraving. Rings are done by hand by a master engraver with over 30 years experience. The pendants, lockets and necklaces are done on a precision diamond tipped engraving machine. Ensuring quality and longevity for your jewellery engraving.

What are the Ashes set into?

We have two ways we set your loved ones ashes/hair/fur. The first is suitable for any inclusion and that is our revolutionary UV stabilised Resin Polymer and the second is setting the ashes directly into the metal of the jewellery, this is suitable for ashes only.

Resin Polymer: Unlike glass it will not smash or crack and will keep your ashes permanently inside for you to treasure Forever. We only use the very best materials and techniques available. Layer upon layer is added to create a depth to each piece. You can have your loved ones ashes/hair/fur set into the final layers so they are more visible (as standard) or set into the lower layers so they are less visible. We make each one by hand and can make them to your specifications and taste.

Metal: Through our Secret Ashes Range we can set your loved ones ashes into the metal itself. This takes away the need for chunky chambers within jewellery to contain loose ashes. Our range encases them in the moulten metal forever. We can even set them into treasured pieces you already own or even re-make you a new piece of jewellery out of gold you no longer wear. This is one of our most populat ranges and one we are very pleased to offer. We can only use ashes in this range due to the high melting point of metal - hair and fur would burn away if set this way.
